Lyrics:

In 1982, some Huon folk musicians put a do on
And from then it yearly really grew and grew
It settled in to Cygnet town
And soon had gained a great renown
With folks from near and far who all would happily attest
Cygnet Folk Festival… it’s the best!

Folkies of a feather gather
Poets flocked together blather
Swanning down to Carmel Hall, one and all
You and me in the Huon Valley
In January, don’t dilly dally
We'll daily dance a Ceilidh gaily through to 2am
Cygnet Folk Festival… what a gem!

It’s not some Ugly Ducklington or even Gawky Goslington
This town, just like a baby swan, has got it goin' on
Yeah, Cygnet is significant. It’s quaintness is magnificent
And as a venue for a folk event, it's heaven sent!

Some acts come down from interstate
The local bands are just as great
And everyone attending can participate
Jamming with the family
Cavorting with community
And even if you just played flute at school, come have a toot
Cygnet Folk Festival… it’s a hoot!

And yet it has endured rather tricky times, it’s true
Lost funding and like, but every time it’s made it through
With the dedicated passion of committee, staff and volunteers
It’s bound to be resounding for another 40 years

This milestone, let us rejoice
A choir’s required so raise your voice and
Sing in praise of one that’s really truly stood the test
Cygnet Folk Festival (x3) … it’s the best!

Folkies of a feather gather
Poets flocked together blather
Swanning down to Carmel Hall, one and all
You and me in the Huon Valley
In January, don’t dilly dally
We'll daily dance a Ceilidh gaily, come and be our guest
Cygnet Folk Festival… it’s the best!
